lyrics

Sisyphus was born on a stormy morning - looked out of the window of his cave to the hollow sky - He said, “where is my place in this crazy world & who will care for me? He found a great boulder hewn from the mountainside - He threw his shoulder against it and he cried, “Oh Lord, why hast thou forsaken me - where is my home, where is my family ?” Then he started pushing that rock up the hill. Sad Sisyphus died on a stormy night - crushed by an avalanche of unfulfilled desire. And as he lay there in his dying breath, his finger pointing at the hollow sky, a beautiful angel appeared at his side - with tears in her eyes - sayin’, “Oh sweet Sisyphus why hast thou forsaken me? I ’ve been here at your side through this crazy journey - and I was kinda hoping you might see me.” The angel built a shrine where poor Sisyphus fell - in a grove of olive trees near a sacred well. And the caravans would pass by and sometimes the children would stop there and play. And by that mossy pile of rocks some of them could hear a sad voice singin’, “Oh my lover why hast thou forsaken me? - to push on that boulder for eternity. Didn’t you know that you were always free ?”

about

Andrew Buglass Ruatapu, New Zealand

A musician of little repute or technical skill. Fell in love with song at an early age and learned his simple guitar licks imitating the likes of Neil Young, Ian Anderson & Luke Hurley. Lyrical inspiration from the Dylan's & Cohen's of the world - with a dash of Morrissey or maybe Kristin Hersh. Performances limited to brief solo outings in cupboards and other small spaces. Until now. ... more
